Al Hoceima, the central Rif crossing
AML Al Hoceima–Motril line, about 5 hours. A calmer alternative to Nador or Tangier Med. Hamama Voyages in Tetouan and Fnideq, honest comparison, CMI planned.
Compare and bookAl Hoceima does not match Tangier Med’s volume.
AML links the Rif port to Motril in about five hours — useful if you live in the central Rif or want to skip Beni Enzar.
Hamama Voyages lists this line beside Nador and the Strait so you choose by road, not by an advert.
Seasonal times; no fare waved as truth.
A smaller port, a different rhythm
Fewer shuttles, more dependence on the AML calendar. Check your travel week: off summer, sailings thin out. Access from Ajdir, Imzouren or Tetouan along the coast takes road time. In return, boarding is often less saturated than Tangier Med in August.
Motril, not Algeciras
You land on the Costa Tropical, east of Malaga, not in Gibraltar Bay. Ideal for Granada, the A-7 toward Almeria or a hop to the Levante. If your Spanish destination is Cadiz or Seville, the Strait still makes more sense. We do not mix ports to inflate a comparison.
Compare with Nador
Hamama Voyages puts Al Hoceima and Nador side by side. Same region, not the same quay. MAD payment, Tetouan/Fnideq advisor, CMI planned. If AML has no sailing that day, we point to Nador–Motril or Nador–Almeria without inventing a rotation.
